Adding Sweden To World Whisky Day with this Mackmyra Svensk Rök / Amerikansk Ek
Scotland has kicked off our gigantic World Whisky Day celebrations with the The Macallan Edition Set on the 15th of May. With Mexico, Wales, Finland, India & New Zealand also running we now have Sweden, Denmark & Switzerland to add into the night of celebrations which is aiming to be our biggest night of live draws to date!
We tasted Mackmyra last year on the Cinderella Viking line Swedish cruise and it was superb, full of fruity orchard notes and a lovely peppery and vanilla lingering finish. When it came to selecting a Swedish single malt we knew we wanted Mackmyra, what we didn’t know until we started our research was they offered this peat smoked expression, it was the perfect choice! This limited edition of Svensk Rök (Swedish smoke) was crafted with Swedish peat-smoked malt which was matured exclusively in new casks of Amerikansk Ek (American oak). The bottling was inspired by the old Swedish tradition of seasoning and preserving food by infusing it with juniper smoke.
