The Macallan 12 Year Old Collection

We feel the 12 Year old range from Macallan is a fantastic place to start or continue an exploration of the difference in cask types, and the influence they can have over the same spirit. We always enjoy tasting these drams alongside each other as we love trying to pick out not just the differences but also the similarities. The new make spirit is the exact same before it starts its maturation so any differences in flavour is purely down to cask type. If you haven’t visited the Macallan distillery then we can definitely recommend it, everything from the feel and smell of the stillhouse to the engineering marvel, it really is something special. We were lucky to visit in 2019 and we look forward to getting a visit back up when we are allowed and its safe to do so. 

Sherry Oak 12 Year Old

The Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Years Old forms part of the Sherry Oak range which features a series of single malt whiskies matured exclusively in hand-picked sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez for richness and complexity. A matured character, the 12 Years Old delivers rich wood spice and dried fruits and a natural rich gold colour. A true Macallan classic and complex single malt.

Double Cask 12 Year Old

The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old forms part of the Double Cask range which marries the classic Macallan style and the unmistakable sweetness of American oak. This is a fully rounded single malt in perfect balance, with flavours of honey, citrus and ginger. A harmonious single malt with a warm character

Triple Cask Matured 12 Year Old

The Macallan Triple Cask Matured 12 Years Old forms part of the Triple Cask Matured range; a series of single malt whiskies crafted in a triple cask combination of European and American sherry seasoned oak casks and American ex-bourbon oak casks. This complex combination of oak casks delivers an extraordinarily smooth and delicate character, full of citrus fruits, vanilla and fresh oak. A light and vibrant single malt bursting with fresh flavours.
