PX Triple Cask Matured

It’s triple-matured, spending time in ex-Bourbon barrels after distillation to add notes of toasty vanilla. Next, it’s placed in small quarter casks which lend a velvety smooth texture to the liquid. This a 1 litre bottling.

Finally, the mature spirit is finished in ex-PX sherry butts where it takes on flavors of sultanas, raisins and sweet licorice. This complements the signature Laphroaig taste — smoky peat reek with a medicinal edge. This is the first Laphroaig single malt to be finished in PX casks, and has impressed numerous critics.

Càirdeas PX 2021 Cask Strength

Each year the Distillery Manager, John Campbell, crafts a limited edition malt to celebrate the Friends of Laphroaig and friendship (“Càirdeas” in Gaelic) in general. Càirdeas 2021 is triple matured in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels, followed by quarter casks and finally in European oak hogsheads containing PX sherry. This creates a complex expression that is full of character that’s been bottled at cask strength to ensure rich and intricate flavours. Here’s to friendship!
