One of ONLY 39 BOTTLES!? Say whaaaaat! Yes, that is correct! Hunter Laing have done it again with their Old Malt Cask, Single Cask releases!

This 13 year old Bunnahabhain has been drawn from a single Firkin cask at 50%. Not only is there just 39 bottles of this, it is also a DISTILLERY EXCLUSIVE, so if you want one of these bad boys, you’ll need to make the journey to Islay, down the single track road, and into Ardnahoe Distillery to pick one up. Picked up (and released) from Ardnahoe just a couple of days ago, I also bought one to taste, and it does not disappoint. A deliciously nutty dram, with hints of cinnamon, spice, and red fruits. Just perfect for Christmas time!

For those unsure about what a Firkin cask is, it’s a small casks, traditionally used for brewing, originating from the Netherlands from around the year 1420, and it holds a quarter of a barrel, so around 41 litres. Nowadays, you’ll usually refer to them as ‘kegs’ and they’re a less attractive stainless steel, which is why you won’t often see them within the whisky industry! A few Oak ones do remain though, maturing fantastic whiskies like this one…
